Development News: A banner week in MLS action
Major League Soccer saw a great deal of great action through the weekend, including two hat tricks and a high goal total in general. Strikers were indeed the stars in round 12, and the league saw another great week for attendances, with one match attracting nearly 40,000 spectators...
In that 'California Clasico' Saturday night contest in San Jose, the visiting Galaxy stole the show, and by doing so, kept themselves on the top of the Western Conference. LA's Edson Buddle scored every goal in their 3-0 win, garnering his second hat trick of the season.
Meanwhile, back East, DC United's Luciano Emilio also had a hat trick in their own 4-2 win over the New York Red Bulls, only a few days after Emilio had been awared the Goal of the Week for Week 11. Emilio was the league's MVP for the 2007 season, but had been somewhat M-I-A (at least in the goal-scoring department) this year, until now that is. While United certainly are moving up, the team at the top of the East remains the New England Revolution...
