In NYC: Barca circus comes to town

Almost 40,000 showed up to the Meadowlands for a Wednesday night international friendly between FC Barcelona and the local MLS team New York Red Bulls.   Although this was half of their weekend crowd the last time the 2 teams met here (in August 2006), it was a good showing...

This was the concluding match of the two-game Barca U.S. Tour, which is becoming a somewhat regular tradition. After defeating Chivas of Guadalajara 5-2 in Chicago on Sunday, the Catalan giants did some similar damage to RBNY, with only a slightly different result ... 6-2 !  This was accomplished even without Lionel Messi (who is in China in the middle of a legal struggle between his club and national teams), and the recently departed Ronaldinho (who signed with AC Milan last month).
