MLS Week 16 highlights - TORONTO FC @ FIRE

I had to borrow the famous ice hockey term for this one; this was a sweet finish for a team that desperately needed a win on Saturday night...

Toronto FC have been inconsistent this season, but it is only their second in existence, and they have improved greatly over last year. They have won the vast majority of games at home, but lost the vast majority away. Unfortunately for them this night, their match featured on FOX's "MLS Saturday" took place at Chicago's Toyota Park...

Chris Rolfe had put the Fire ahead just 6 minutes into the game; at halftime, TFC inserted teenager Abdus Ibrahim, who then wasted no time, scoring his first MLS goal to pull Toronto even at 1-1 in the 63rd minute...

Then, deep into the final stoppage time, Chicago's John Thorrington scored the game-winner, perfectly placed between the legs of TFC's 'keeper Greg Sutton...and 'that was that' !

from MLSNet.com,

"The Chicago Fire needed a win. Toronto FC needed a positive result. The Fire got what they needed when John Thorrington scored in stoppage time to give the Fire a 2-1 win Saturday evening at Toyota Park. The outcome ended the Fire's five-game winless streak and gave them a 3-3-1 record at home."
