The NBC Olympic Soccer Channel on TV

Nbcolympics_3 NBC Olympic Soccer Channel is a dedicated cable channel which will show only Olympic Soccer throughout each day. This channel is available to most providers, but that doesn't mean that your own provider will automatically make it available to you. It is a good idea to contact your local provider as soon as possible to make sure they have plans to carry it.

NBC Olympic Soccer Channel will show all-day rebroadcasts on same-day tape-delay of all of the day's matches. Every men's and women's match will be shown live, and every one will also be repeated on NBC Olympic Soccer Channel. This is a temporary channel that will only exist during the Games.

Seven traditional TV networks of NBC Universal will combine to show every soccer match of both the men's and women's tournaments. NBCOlympics.com will also be offering streamed and other video features on soccer, and have a large portal within the site dedicated to this sport.

Soccer is historically the most popular sport of the Summer Games; it is almost always the most-attended as well as the most-followed by fans. It is also the first sport in competition in Beijing. In fact, the USA women and men each play in the opening matches of their respective tournaments. On Wednesday, August 6, the ladies begin play versus Norway; the following day, the men take on Japan.

To give you and idea of how the NBC Olympic Soccer Channel will be working together with the others showing the matches, I've posted the first two days' Olympics TV schedule below (soccer is the only sport those days). If you enjoy soccer, and want to see the most matches in a more convenient way (all on one channel), then I suggest that you contact your cable or satellite operator and let them know you are interested in this channel for August.

Does anyone know who has the final say on which broadcast company gets the contract?I would like to make sure that NBC does not get a chance to bid on anymore olympic coverage going forward ,since they seem to think they can keep the American public in the dark.Third World countries will see the coverage live, but here in America we are held captive by a corporation that only cares about thier bottom line (profits). In this day and age there is no call whatsoever for the garbage they are pulling.Medals will actually be awarded before we here in the States even see the opening ceremony.I
want to get a petition both on-line and also paper copies to prevent
NBC from ever doing this again. Thanks
